This course will provide the attendees with the theory that is part of
the The Art & Science of Optometric Care
—A Behavioral Perspective (BVC) course now only open
to optometrists. The basic principles of behavioral vision
will be discussed, as will the theory of how function
can alter structure over time. Terms that will be fully defined
include: embeddedness, prevention, and stress. The
actual how-to of the analytical examination will be omitted but
the insights gained from the analytical will be
explained. The development of refractive conditions including
myopia,
hyperopia, and astigmatism will be covered. There
will be a section on behavioral optics and the use of lenses.
Learn what an optometrist looks for during the
evaluation and in subsequent progress exams. This will help
therapists
and staff to better communicate with their
optometrist and to support his or her treatment plans with patients.
Each course participant will receive a manual which includes suggested
readings and diagrams.
*Courses begin at 9:00 am each morning and will finish at
5:00 PM. On the last day of the course we begin at
9:00 am
and generally finish by 3:00 PM. Lunch
is included in your tuition.
