Dr. Bacon has been in the private
practice of optometry in Arizona since 1984. He is currently
co-owner of Family Optometry in Chandler, Arizona. This practice
provides all aspects of vision care with a special emphasis on
children’s vision, visual development, and vision-related learning
disabilities. Dr. Bacon also has an extensive background in
therapeutic contact lens care. Dr. Bacon received his B.S. from the
University of Nevada at Las Vegas in 1977 and his O.D. from Pacific
University College of Optometry in 1981. Dr. Bacon has been a
Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development since
1985. He has served as a Fellowship Mentor for C.O.V.D. since
1997. He has served for over 15 years as the state director for
the College of Optometry in Vision Development. Dr. Bacon was
president of his local optometric society, and is a past director of
the Sun Valley Behavioral Vision Conference. Dr. Bacon is a member
of The Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He has served
as a board member for Upward Foundation, a treatment facility for
developmentally delayed children.
Dr. Bacon has been the chairman of the
Speaker’s Development Committee of OEP for the last two years.
Dr. Bacon has
lectured extensively to parents groups, teachers, occupational,
physical therapists and speech therapists on the subjects of vision
development, diagnosis and treatment of vision related learning
disabilities, strabismus and neuro-optometric rehabilitation.
Dr. Bacon has been
married for twenty-four years and is the father of three children.
